What exactly is an
AI Agent?
To understand what an AI Agent is, it helps to compare it with what we already know: traditional computer programs and human employees.
The Traditional Program
A computer program follows precise, step-by-step instructions. It does exactly what it's told. But if something unexpected happens, it gets stuck and needs a human to step in and fix it.
The Human
A human employee has complete autonomy. They don't need step-by-step commands. If they hit a roadblock, they figure out a way around it, use tools intuitively, and adapt to the situation.
The AI Agent
Somewhere in between is an AI Agent. Given a goal and tools (like a calculator or browser), it has the autonomy to decide how and when to use them to navigate obstacles and succeed.
